PONY EXPRESS

Pony Express is for anyone who is under the age of thirteen; in 3rd grade through 8th grade, and loves working with animals. Learning about animal care, Team Work, Leadership, giving back, and  helping others is what happens to the kids in Pony Express Club.

The kids will have the opportunity to work with the animals. They will get to help with our Lead-line riders. Depending on their commitment in concert with our availability, they may be offered a chance to  participate in our off facility events. Possibly even the chance to participate in the Katy Rodeo Parade.

When you choose to enroll in this package, you will automatically be enrolled in the Friends of HALTER. There will be a one time annual charge of $75. This will entitle you to "The Bit & Bridle" newsletter, and a portion of the monies collected goes back into HALTER as a donation for us to keep creating programs in-house as well as a means to bring in outside talent in the form of clinics and camps. As we grow, you can take pleasure in knowing that you are a direct contribution to our success.

The cost is $60 per month for the child to come out:

  • Mondays 5 pm - 6 pm

  • Wednesdays 5 pm - 6pm

  •  Saturdays from 8 am - 2pm

For those that are over the age of thirteen and students that are in High School can join the Pony Express at no charge. It is an amazing opportunity to work with the animals and help the younger kids at the same time. In addition it can earn Volunteer Service Hours for High School Graduation.  Volunteer Service Hours always look good on college applications .

Riders must wear long pants, tucked in shirts, and closed toed shoes with heels. Classes are ongoing, you are welcome to sign up at any time. Please download, fill out, and sign the registration form and liability release. Registration form, Liability Release, and payment is due prior to your first lesson. As for the teen volunteers, you must also fill out a Volunteer Form as well as a Liability Release before you will be allowed to work with the animals.

Being a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, HALTER relies on gifts and donations. Every dollar donated goes to the growth of our programs to help those of our community that need it most.  There is no such thing as too small of a donation, because every dollar counts! We thank you in advance.
